The namesake of 'GALI wines, 'Gallipoli' means 'beautiful city' in the Greek language, and 'Gali' simply means 'beautiful'. In the Ottoman language, 'Gali' also stood for 'precious, valuable and extending beyond the limit'. The historic Gallipoli Campaign held here holds great importance not only for the British, Anzacs and Turks but for the whole world, as well.

Lysimachia, the ancient city built by Lysimachus, is only a few kilometers away from our vineyards. The lion coin on our bottles also references King Lysimachus, who rose to the throne after Alexander the Great. Legend tells us that Lysimachus and Alexandre go  hunting and fighting together and they were very good friends.Alexandre would hunt lions with bear hands and Lysimachus admires his
braveness. After the death of Alexandre,Lysimachus rose to the throne and became the King.He wanted to make something for the memory of his beloved Alexandre,so he produced a coin with the face of Alexandre on one side of it.This is considered to be the first coin with a human face on it  in the history, and is called the  “Lysimachus Coin”.On the other side of the coin there is a lion and it is called Lysimachus Lion, which you can see on our label of the bottle.

Our vineyards also feature shelters from the World War II period that are worth a see.
